About Genesis Dermatology
Dr. Shawna Flanagan founded Genesis Dermatology in October 1998, opening her practice in Jupiter, Florida after training in internal medicine at NYU and completing her dermatology residency at the University of Miami. She envisioned a practice that paired expert medical care with the warmth and familiarity of a close knit office. That philosophy continues to shape the patient experience today.
Founded and led by Dr. Flanagan, Genesis Dermatology is proud to be a woman owned practice. Over the years, it has grown from a single physician office into a full service practice offering medical, cosmetic, laser, and surgical dermatology.
In September 2025, the practice welcomed Dr. A. Caresse Gamret, whom Dr. Flanagan helped train during her dermatology residency at the University of Miami. Dr. Gamret returned to South Florida after completing a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Her fellowship training brings advanced expertise in skin cancer surgery to Genesis Dermatology, giving patients access to Mohs surgery close to home.
Nearly three decades after opening her practice, Dr. Flanagan’s founding vision remains at the heart of Genesis Dermatology: thoughtful, thorough care from physicians who take the time to know their patients. Today, patients can find medical, cosmetic, laser, and surgical dermatology in one practice, with care guided by Dr. Flanagan and Dr. Gamret.
